Diana Mariam Kurien, popularly known by her stage name Nayanthara is a South Indian actress, who has acted in many successful Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu movies. After several commercial successes such as Chandramukhi, Ghajini, Billa and Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Nayanthara has established herself as one of the most promising, sought-after actresses of South India. She made her debut in Tamil film opposite Sarath Kumar in Ayya(2004) and with Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi (2004). Her later films Vallavan (Tamil), Gajini (Tamil), Yogi (Telugu) etc. did not perform at all at box office except for Ghajini. However with Billa in 2007, she once again established herself as the leading actress in Kollywood. Billa also earned her Vijay award for Favorite Heroine and a nomination for Filmfare Best Tamil Actress. Her next movie Yaaradi Nee Mohini was a mammoth success and the film received seven nominations at the 56th Filmfare Awards South, including a Best Actress nomination for Nayantara for her portrayal of Keerthi. Her subsequent releases, like Kuselan opposite Rajnikanth, Sathyam opposite Vishal and Villu opposite Vijay, were all unsuccessful at the box office, with the exception of Aegan which was an average grosser. Her only successful release in 2009 was Aadhavan with Surya which released in October 2009, and become one of the few successes of 2009. In 2010, all her releases, featuring her as the lead female role turned out to be stupendous commercial successes. She delivered five super hit films in the four Southern languages - Bodyguard(Malayalam), Adurs and Simha (Telugu), Boss Engira Bhaskaran (Tamil) and Super (Kannada). She won the Asianet Film Awards Best Actress in a leading role for her performance in Bodyguard. Simha went onto become one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of the year and Boss Engira Bhaskaran opened up to favorable reviews and went onto become a huge blockbuster. She also received a Filmfare nomination for the Best Actress for the films (Simha, Boos Engira Bhaskaran and Super) in their respective languages.
