Dharani Bio
Dharani is an Indian film director, who is primarily known for pot boiler action films. He is best known for directing the blockbuster films Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli. His debut film was Ethirum Pudhirum, a film that was loosely based on forest brigand Veerappan and his younger brother's death. The film was marred by financial constraints and political controversies. Nevertheless, Ethirum Pudhirum was released in 1999 and received critical acclaim. It was awarded second place in the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film. Subsequent films by Dharani such as Dhill, starring Vikram was also a commercial success. His next film Dhool, produced by A. M. Rathnam in 2003, again with Vikram along with Jyothika Saravanan, was also a blockbuster. His biggest blockbuster was the film Ghilli featuring Vijay and Trisha. The film was produced by A.M. Rathnam. Consecutive films such as Kuruvi and Osthe have received lukewarm response at the box office.
